Appreciation Event
One of the best ways to influence our clients and customers is to do nice things for them. Many successful business leaders make a habit of having an Appreciation Event for their clients and future customers quarterly. During the event they do not talk about their products or services unless the client or customer brings it up. They merely make small talk, ask questions and listen after all they are the boss. They work on building trust, and establishing a friendly relationship. Throughout the event they tell them that they will be getting in touch with them sometime in the near future with the possibility of helping them in some way.
The best business leaders of today are those who look upon their clients and customers as friends and partners. They are looking for ways to helping them improve their lives in ways that are not always directly related to the products or services that they may sell. They are helping them connect with people that will in someway take them to a new level. This allows us to sow seeds, and then reap a harvest. When the time comes to approach our client or future customer with the possibility of buying our products or services, they are wide open to our questions and inputs. The client or customer will then have a deep down desire to reciprocate. I have heard it said many, many times, “No one cares how much know until you first show them how much you care!”
One of the best ways to use this principle in our interactions is to continually look for ways to say and do positive things for them. Look for ways to do kind acts and favors for your clients and future customers. Send thank you notes. Send birthday cards. Send clippings from newspapers about subjects that you feel may be of interest to them. Always keep your promises, and follow up on your commitments. Always do what you say you will do. Do everything possible to show how much you care knowing confidently that you will ultimately be able to get far more in return. We will reap if we sow.
No one ever built a statue to acknowledge what a person got out of life. Statues are built to acknowledge what they gave. The most powerful, influential and successful people we will ever meet always looks for ways to Do Nice Things for others. When we meet someone under almost any circumstance, one of the best questions we may ask is this: “Is there anything that I may do for you?” Be interested not interesting. Always look for ways to put in rather than to take out. The most successful leaders of today will be those who give first!
The more that our client and/or customer feels that we are open, empathetic and sensitive to their needs and concerns, the more open they will be to our influencing them positively in someway. And the more we influence others with the power and impact of our personality, the more we will accomplish, and the faster we will accomplish it. The more rapidly we will move toward the great success that we desire and deserve.
